Quickstart

1. Craft a Shadow Orb and a Shadow Altar at a crafting table using the recipes below.
2. Place the altar, select the orb, and interact with the altar. The orb is consumed; after a short delay, the Shadow Doppelganger appears and pursues you.
3. Defeat it to get Heart Root Resin. Find or place a Heart Root, then either mine it or interact with it while holding the resin. Both actions cleanse the corruption.

Overview

Kinetic Flux Motors centers on the Lurkwood corruption: a hidden pressure that can spread through the world as you play. Summoning the Doppelganger raises that pressure, while cleansing the Heart Root ends it.

What It Adds

• Blocks: Pale Soil, Withered Oak Log, Withered Oak Leaves, Heart Root, Shadow Altar, and Hush Bloom.
• Items: Shadow Orb and Heart Root Resin.
• Entity: Shadow Doppelganger.

How To Use

• Shadow Altar: Place it and interact while holding a Shadow Orb to summon the Doppelganger. One orb is consumed.
• Heart Root: Mine it to cleanse the corruption, or interact while holding Heart Root Resin. Using resin consumes one.
• Heart Root Resin: Dropped by the Doppelganger when it dies.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft both the Shadow Orb and Shadow Altar at a crafting table. The full recipes are shown above. The altar uses obsidian, ender eyes, crying obsidian, and a lodestone; the orb uses amethyst shards, echo shards, and an ender eye.

The Heart Root and other custom blocks are available in Creative inventory. No recipe is provided for Heart Root Resin.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Breaking blocks raises corruption pressure slightly. Interacting with a bed or placing a torch, lantern, or campfire raises it more. Summoning the Doppelganger sets pressure to at least 35.
• While corruption is active, nearby grass, dirt, oak logs, oak wood, and oak leaves can become Lurkwood variants. Spread becomes more frequent as pressure rises.
• At higher pressure, animals nearby may be marked “Hollowed” and pushed away. Corruption can also cause distant whispers and brief blindness pulses.
• The Doppelganger has 180 health, is immune to fire, and deals 7 damage when it reaches its summoner. Prepare for a fight before using the altar.

Progression And Strategy

Summoning the Doppelganger is the main way to obtain resin, but it also intensifies the corruption. Make space to fight and keep moving to avoid its close-range attacks. Afterward, use the resin on the Heart Root or mine the root directly to stop further spread and reset corruption pressure.
