Ironwood Longshot

Quickstart

Craft an Ironwood Longshot, then keep 1 gunpowder and 1 stone button in your inventory. Hold the Longshot and use Use Item (right-click by default) to aim; after holding for at least 20 ticks, release to fire. Each survival shot consumes one of each item. You don’t need arrows.

Overview

The Ironwood Longshot fires a fast, straight-traveling shot intended for distant targets. It uses a bow-like hold-and-release action, but its ammunition is gunpowder and a stone button.

What It Adds

• Ironwood Longshot: A one-item-stack ranged weapon.
• Ironwood Longshot Shot: Its arrow-like projectile.

How To Use

1. Put gunpowder and a stone button in your inventory.
2. Hold the Longshot and press and hold Use Item to aim.
3. Release after at least 20 ticks to fire in the direction you’re looking.

Holding longer does not increase the shot’s speed. In Creative mode, you can fire without ammunition, and no ammunition is consumed.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Longshot at a crafting table with 2 iron ingots and 5 planks. The recipe becomes available in your recipe book after entering a world.

In Creative mode, you can also find it in the Combat tab.

Abilities And Mechanics

The shot travels without falling due to gravity, making it useful for aiming at distant targets. It disappears after 53 ticks if it doesn’t hit anything. Fired shots cannot be picked up.

Progression And Strategy

Keep both ammunition items stocked before heading out. Try aiming at distant targets first, and account for obstacles between you and your target: the shot travels straight rather than curving or dropping.
