Quickstart
- Craft Field Ammunition and a starter pistol: .
- Hold the pistol and use it (right-click by default) while aiming at a living target. In Survival, firing consumes ammunition; if you run out, craft more.
- Try a throwable next: craft a and use it to throw it. It detonates when it hits something.
- Build a small defense with sandbags and a sentry post. Place them like ordinary blocks.
- Explore the Overworld for naturally generated Frontier Forts, or craft a and use it on a block to deploy a fort.
Overview
Ironclad Arsenal is a combat and field-building mod with firearms, thrown explosives, military armor, defensive blocks, and Frontier Forts. Guns use Field Ammunition rather than vanilla arrows or bullets. Forts can be found in the Overworld or deployed with a blueprint.

How To Use
- Firearms: Hold a gun and use it to attack. Guns consume Field Ammunition from your inventory; different weapons have different ranges, damage, cooldowns, and ammunition use. Creative-mode players do not spend ammunition.
- Launchers: Use the Rocket Launcher to launch an Aerial Bomb, or the Grenade Launcher to launch a Fragmentation Grenade. Launcher shots also use Field Ammunition.
- Throwables: Hold a grenade or bomb and use it to throw. Fragmentation Grenades explode on impact; Incendiary Bombs make an incendiary blast; Aerial Bombs make a stronger blast. Smoke Canisters release a cloud of smoke particles on impact.
- Field Knife: Use it on a living target to strike.
- Armor: Equip the Field Helmet, Field Plate Carrier, Field Trousers, and Combat Boots in their usual armor slots.
- Defenses: Place Sandbag Barriers and Automated Sentry Posts like blocks to build a defensive position.
- Fort Blueprint: Use the blueprint on a block to start deploying a Frontier Fort. Keep the full site within loaded chunks until construction finishes.

Abilities And Mechanics
Frontier Forts can appear on the Overworld surface. A fort has a perimeter and a roofed barracks, with a crafting table, barrel, and lantern inside; a sentry post and sandbag barrier are also part of the outpost. Fort blueprints let you deploy a fort at a site you choose.
Progression And Strategy
Start by keeping a supply of Field Ammunition alongside your preferred firearm. Add throwables for explosive or smoke effects, then use sandbags and a sentry post to prepare a position before exploring or fighting. Carry a Frontier Fort Blueprint when you want to establish an outpost away from naturally generated forts.
