Right-click while holding the backpack to open its inventory GUI and store or retrieve items. For quick equipping, shift + right-click to automatically place it in your chest armor slot, where it also provides 5 defense points and 1.0 toughness comparable to iron armor. All items stored inside are saved persistently to the backpack itself, so your belongings remain safe even when you log out or move the backpack around your inventory.
