Global Faction Siege
Quickstart
- When you spawn into the world, you'll automatically receive a Diplomatic Dossier item.
- Right-click (or use) the Diplomatic Dossier to open the faction selection menu.
- Choose one of the available delegations, or select "Remain unaffiliated." Note that unaffiliated players are treated as priority targets by every faction.
- Watch your action bar — it displays the current siege day, your faction, and (from Day 20 onward) an escalating threat "Evolution" percentage.
- Survive. Faction Raiders will begin closing in on your position in growing numbers as the days pass. Fight them off, gather loot, and keep an eye on your Dossier if you ever want to switch sides.
If you lose your Dossier, you can craft another one using the recipe below:
Overview
Global Faction Siege turns the world into a slow-burning global conflict. Every player picks a side — or refuses to — and the world responds with waves of hostile raiders loyal to rival factions. There's no map to conquer and no base to build for a faction; instead, the mod is about survival under mounting diplomatic and military pressure as the "siege" escalates day by day.
What It Adds
- Diplomatic Dossier — a personal item that opens a faction selection menu. Every player receives one automatically upon first spawning into the world.
- Faction Raider — a hostile humanoid enemy that spawns in growing numbers as the siege progresses. Raiders are always marked with a faction name and actively hunt down players, including breaking down doors to reach them.
- Ongoing World Siege — a persistent day counter and escalating threat system that runs in the background of the world, replacing many vanilla monster spawns with faction-aligned raiders.
How To Use
- Choosing a Faction: Open your Diplomatic Dossier at any time to view your current affiliation or switch sides. Changing factions is always possible, but be aware that rival delegations will treat you as an enemy once you declare an allegiance.
- Staying Unaffiliated: If you decline to join a faction, you're flagged as a top-priority target for all raiders — a way to opt out of politics but not out of danger.
- Tracking the Siege: Your action bar constantly shows the current siege day and your faction status. Past Day 20, an increasing "Evolution" percentage appears, signaling that raider pressure is intensifying dramatically.
- Fighting Raiders: Faction Raiders are tough, fast, aggressive melee fighters that can break down doors and pursue players relentlessly from long range. Expect them to spawn in clusters around you periodically, with cluster sizes and frequency increasing the longer the siege continues.
- Vanilla Monster Replacement: Common hostile mobs that would normally spawn in the world are instead replaced by Faction Raiders belonging to a random delegation, so nearly every nighttime or dark-area encounter becomes part of the siege.
Crafting And Obtaining
The Diplomatic Dossier is given to you automatically on your first spawn, but if you lose it, throw it away, or need a spare, you can craft a replacement:
Abilities And Mechanics
- Faction Raider Stats: These raiders are notably durable and hard-hitting, capable of climbing, breaking doors, and chasing players from far away. Defeating them can drop rotten flesh, and occasionally iron ingots, carrots, or potatoes.
- Siege Escalation: The world tracks an internal "siege day" counter that advances continuously. Early on, the pressure is light, but every week that passes causes raider spawn pressure to climb sharply. There's a built-in cap on how many raiders can appear near any one player at a time, keeping fights intense but manageable.
- Diplomatic Messaging: Early in the siege (through Day 10), joining or checking in on a faction will trigger in-chat messages acknowledging your alliance and warning of rival mobilization. Unaffiliated players receive warnings urging them to pick a side.
Progression And Strategy
- Early Game: In the first days of the siege, raider activity is light and manageable — a good time to gear up, build defenses, and decide on a faction.
- Mid Game: As days accumulate in weekly cycles, raider spawn waves become noticeably larger and more frequent. Doors and simple defenses become less reliable since raiders can break through them.
- Late Game (Day 20+): The action bar's "Evolution" percentage signals a dramatic ramp-up in overall raider threat. Expect sieges to become extremely dangerous, testing your combat gear, defensive structures, and strategic positioning.
- Faction Choice Matters: Since every faction treats rival members as hostile, and unaffiliated players are prioritized as targets, deciding whether — and when — to commit to a delegation is a core strategic choice throughout the siege.
