Quickstart

1. Open your crafting table and craft the Frozen Diamond Blade using a Diamond Sword surrounded by Blue Ice and Packed Ice (recipe below).
2. The recipe is unlocked automatically when you join a world — no advancement needed.
3. Equip the blade and start hitting enemies to apply freezing and slowness effects immediately.

The Frozen Diamond Blade is a powerful sword infused with glacial energy. Built on Netherite-tier tool stats, it hits hard and cripples enemies with frost on every strike — making it excellent for both crowd control and sustained combat.

What It Adds

Abilities And Mechanics

Every time you hit a living enemy with the Frozen Diamond Blade, two frost effects are applied simultaneously:

• Freeze buildup — The target accumulates freeze ticks, causing the powder-snow freezing visual and damage over time if enough stacks up.
• Slowness II (5 seconds) — The target is immediately slowed, making it harder for them to escape or retaliate.

Stats

The attack speed of 1.6 is notably slower than a standard sword, so time your swings carefully — each hit lands hard and freezes the target, rewarding deliberate combat over spam-clicking.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Frozen Diamond Blade at a crafting table using 4 Blue Ice, 4 Packed Ice, and 1 Diamond Sword. The Diamond Sword is consumed in the process.

Tip: Blue Ice can be found in frozen ocean biomes or crafted from 9 Packed Ice. Packed Ice is found in ice spikes and snowy biomes, or crafted from 9 regular Ice blocks.

Progression And Strategy

• Early use: You need a Diamond Sword to craft this blade, so it's a mid-game upgrade that transitions you into a freeze-focused combat style.
• Crowd control: Slowness II on every hit makes kiting multiple enemies much easier — hit one, back up, and pick off stragglers while they're slowed.
• Freeze stacking: Repeatedly hitting the same target builds up freeze ticks, eventually dealing freeze damage on top of sword damage.
• Boss fights: The attack speed is lower than a standard sword, so enchanting with Sharpness or Fire Aspect helps maximize each swing's value.
• Combine with knockback: A Knockback enchantment pairs well — slow the enemy, then knock them back to buy time before the next swing.
