Frostguard Elf Haven
Quickstart
- Install the
.mcaddon and create or load a world with the pack enabled.
- Start exploring the overworld — High Elf palaces and villages generate automatically as you travel. No commands are needed.
- When you find a haven, walk inside. The High Elf Frostguards stationed there will ignore you and immediately begin targeting any nearby hostile mobs with their ice bows.
- Explore the structures to find loot chests and equipment. Do not attack the Elves — they will retaliate if you strike them.
- In Creative mode, use the High Elf Frostguard Spawn Egg (light blue with cyan spots) to spawn guards anywhere you like.
Overview
Frostguard Elf Haven adds two types of High Elf structures to the overworld: grand palaces and smaller villages. Each is built from vanilla blocks and populated with armed High Elf Frostguard defenders. These elves are friendly toward players by default and act as powerful allies, freezing and eliminating hostile mobs in the area. Approach their havens peacefully and you gain both protection and loot; attack them and you'll face their wrath.
What It Adds
| Content | Description |
|---|
| High Elf Palace | Large multi-story structure; spawns 8 Frostguard defenders |
| High Elf Village | Smaller settlement; spawns 5 Frostguard defenders |
| High Elf Frostguard | Ranged ally mob that fires ice arrows at hostile mobs |
| High Elf Frostguard Spawn Egg | Creative-mode egg to manually spawn guards |
How To Use
Finding Structures
High Elf palaces and villages generate naturally in the overworld as you explore new chunks. They can appear on grass, snow, or podzol terrain. Simply travel in any direction and you will encounter them — no special biome is required.
Interacting With Frostguards
- By default, Frostguards are allies. They will not attack you unless provoked.
- They automatically scan for and target hostile mobs within a wide range, prioritising the protection of nearby players.
- Each shot creates a burst of snowflake particles around the target, dealing freeze damage and temporarily encasing the mob in ice. The ice melts on its own after a short time.
- Frostguards carry enchanted crossbows and are equipped with arrows, making them formidable defenders.
- If you hit a Frostguard, they will turn aggressive toward you for a period before calming down. Avoid friendly fire.
Claiming Loot
Inside the structures you will find loot. When a Frostguard is defeated (by hostile mobs or, at your peril, by you), they can drop:
- Arrows (0–3, with possible bonus from Looting)
- Packed Ice (0–2)
- Their equipped enchanted crossbow and a stack of 16 arrows
Abilities And Mechanics
Ice Arrow Attack
Frostguards attack at range (up to 16 blocks), firing every 2.5–3.5 seconds. Each ice arrow:
- Deals 5 points (2.5 hearts) of freeze damage to the target.
- Briefly encases the target in ice, slowing or immobilising it until the ice melts naturally.
- Produces a visible snowflake particle burst on impact.
- Plays a bow-fire sound effect.
Stats
| Stat | Value |
|---|
| Health | 32 HP (16 hearts) |
| Attack range | 16 blocks |
| Follow/detection range | 32 blocks |
| Movement speed | Moderate |
| Attack interval | 2.5–3.5 seconds |
Natural Spawning
Outside of structures, High Elf Frostguards can also spawn naturally on the surface — on grass, snow, snow blocks, or podzol — in daylight or well-lit conditions (light level 7–15). They spawn in small groups of 1–3 and up to 6 can be present on the surface in a given area at once.
Progression And Strategy
- Early game: When you discover a High Elf haven early in your playthrough, station yourself near the guards during the night. Their ice bows will deal with most hostile threats so you can focus on gathering resources.
- Combat support: When venturing into dangerous areas, look for naturally spawned Frostguards nearby — their freeze effect gives you a significant tactical advantage against tough mobs.
- Loot runs: The structures contain equipment and loot worth collecting. Because the guards protect the area, clearing out hostile mobs first is often done for you. Raid chests freely without provoking the guards.
- Creative building: Use the Spawn Egg to place Frostguard sentinels around your own base for a thematic and functional defence force.
- Caution: Frostguards retaliate if attacked, so be very careful with AoE attacks or accidental hits when fighting mobs near them. Their freeze-and-damage output can be lethal if turned against you.
