Description
Filled spring buckets can replace air, water, lava, or another Forgotten Springs liquid. Each bucket plays a distinctive sound and displays a matching subtitle when placed.
Forgotten Springs adds ten unusual fluids with different colors, flow patterns, light levels, entity effects, and reactions. Springs generate naturally in small underground vents, geodes, fractures, and rare surface pools.
Five springs behave like water and five behave like lava:
All springs are non-infinite. A placed source flows downward first, then spreads horizontally while losing fluid level. Flowing sections cannot be collected with a bucket; collect a still source instead.
| Spring | Family | Light level | Horizontal reach | Level loss per block |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ember Syrup | Lava-like | 13 | 3 | 2 |
| Prism Gel | Water-like | 10 | 6 | 1 |
| Verdant Mistwater | Water-like | 8 | 4 | 1 |
| Obsidian Oil | Lava-like | 1 | 1 | 3 |
| Solar Nectar | Lava-like | 15 | 3 | 2 |
| Frostbite Brine | Water-like | 9 | 5 | 1 |
| Amethyst Plasma | Water-like | 12 | 6 | 1 |
| Crimson Vaporflux | Lava-like | 6 | 2 | 3 |
| Azure Driftmilk | Water-like | 7 | 6 | 1 |
| Gloom Sludge | Lava-like | 0 | 1 | 4 |
A higher reach lets a liquid spread farther across level ground. A higher level loss makes it decay more quickly. Downward columns can travel farther than horizontal streams because gravity drives the flow.
Natural pools may have a themed rim or nearby decoration that hints at the liquid inside.
| Spring | Common surrounding decoration |
|---|---|
| Ember Syrup | Magma blocks |
| Prism Gel | Amethyst blocks |
| Verdant Mistwater | Moss blocks |
| Obsidian Oil | Crying obsidian |
| Solar Nectar | Glowstone |
| Frostbite Brine | Frostbite Crystals |
| Amethyst Plasma | Budding amethyst |
| Crimson Vaporflux | Blackstone |
| Azure Driftmilk | Calcite |
| Gloom Sludge | Sculk |
Use an empty bucket on a still Forgotten Springs liquid block. The liquid is removed and the empty bucket becomes the matching filled spring bucket.
Flowing liquid cannot be collected directly. Follow a stream back to its source or place a new source with a filled bucket.
Use a filled spring bucket on a replaceable block. The bucket creates a still source and returns an empty bucket. The new source immediately begins its normal flow.
Springs can be used for:
Every spring has its own placement sound and subtitle:
Forgotten Springs liquids and buckets are not crafted. Obtain them by:
The two modded solid products are Obsidian Oil Shards and Frostbite Crystals. Obsidian Oil Shards can form when Obsidian Oil is cooled, while Frostbite Crystals can form around Frostbite Brine. Both can also appear as natural spring decorations.
Solid reaction products are ordinary placeable blocks. Mine them normally after a liquid reaction.
Ember Syrup flows with a lava-like pattern. Entities inside it move slowly, catch fire, and take fire damage.
Prism Gel behaves like a water-like fluid. Entities moving through it are slowed horizontally but are pushed upward, making it useful for bounce pads and vertical movement puzzles.
Verdant Mistwater applies Regeneration while an entity is inside it. Some flowing sections can disappear over time, especially when the stream has already lost much of its fluid level.
Obsidian Oil is extremely slow and pulls entities downward. When it touches water, ice, packed ice, blue ice, or snow, it can cool into Obsidian Oil Shards.
Solar Nectar is the brightest spring and behaves like lava. It makes entities glow and changes its movement with the time of day:
Use it for timed displays, lighting, and unusual vertical-flow builds.
Frostbite Brine applies strong Slowness and Mining Fatigue to entities inside it. It freezes adjacent vanilla water into ice and can create Frostbite Crystals in open air above the liquid.
Amethyst Plasma behaves like a water-like fluid but violently jolts entities upward and sideways. It also deals magic damage, making it useful as a hazardous obstacle or randomized movement trap.
Crimson Vaporflux applies Blindness and deals hot-floor damage. Flowing sections can dissipate when touching natural Overworld stone, producing crimson particles as they vanish.
Azure Driftmilk applies Slow Falling and gently lifts entities. Its broad, persistent flow makes it useful for aerial paths, soft landings, and floating platforms.
Gloom Sludge is slow and heavy. It applies Darkness, strongly reduces movement, and can occasionally extinguish an adjacent torch or wall torch.
A Forgotten Springs liquid reacts when it touches another liquid. Reactions can occur from any side and produce a solid block at the contact point.
Two different Forgotten Springs liquids consume each other during the reaction. The same spring does not react with itself. Vanilla water and lava remain present while the touching Forgotten Springs liquid changes into its product.
