Quickstart

1. Craft a Wooden Chisel or Stone Chisel.
2. Hold the chisel in your main hand.
3. Use it on a supported block to carve that block into its decorative variant.
4. Upgrade to a Copper, Iron, Diamond, or Netherite Chisel to work with more materials.
5. Each successful carving consumes 1 durability from the chisel.

Start with the Wooden Chisel:

Use it on stone, cobblestone, bricks, or blackstone. A message confirms the carving after it succeeds.

Overview

Forged Chiselworks adds six reusable chisels with increasing durability and carving tiers. Use them directly on blocks to replace ordinary building materials with decorative or polished variants.

A chisel only works on blocks available to its tier or lower. Wooden and Stone Chisels can handle the first group of materials, while stronger chisels unlock copper, deepslate, tuff, basalt, nether brick, and quartz carvings.

What It Adds

The Netherite Chisel is fire-resistant.

How To Use

Equip a chisel and use it on one of the supported blocks below.

Carving replaces the targeted block with its result. Chisels do not affect unsupported blocks, and a lower-tier chisel cannot carve materials above its tier.

Crafting And Obtaining

All chisels can be crafted from their corresponding material and one stick, except the Netherite Chisel, which is made at a smithing table.

Wooden Chisel

Craft a Wooden Chisel with any planks and a stick.

Stone Chisel

Craft a Stone Chisel with cobblestone and a stick.

Copper Chisel

Craft a Copper Chisel with a copper ingot and a stick.

Iron Chisel

Craft an Iron Chisel with an iron ingot and a stick.

Diamond Chisel

Craft a Diamond Chisel with a diamond and a stick.

Netherite Chisel

Upgrade a Diamond Chisel at a smithing table using a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template and a netherite ingot.

• Chisels are used directly on blocks rather than placed in the world.
• Every successful carving uses 1 durability.
• A chisel remains usable until its durability is depleted.
• Wooden and Stone Chisels handle basic carvings.
• Copper and Iron Chisels can also carve copper, deepslate, tuff, and basalt.
• Diamond and Netherite Chisels can perform every carving currently available.
• The Netherite Chisel has the highest durability and is fire-resistant.
• Unsupported blocks and blocks above the chisel’s tier remain unchanged.

Progression And Strategy

Begin with a Wooden or Stone Chisel for early decorative building materials. Copper and Iron Chisels provide access to polished and chiseled variants while offering much greater durability. Save diamonds for a Diamond Chisel when you want to work with Nether and quartz materials, then upgrade it to Netherite for maximum durability and fire resistance.
