Flashbang

Quickstart

• Find a Flashbang in a Crimson Forest, or use a Flashbang Spawn Egg from the Creative inventory. With commands enabled, summon one with /summon com_flashbang_wnzweecb:mycustom ~ ~ ~.
• Wild Flashbangs attack players. To tame one, use salmon or cooked salmon on it; each feeding has a 35% chance to tame it.
• Keep your tamed Flashbang nearby: it follows you and fights threats to you.
• To set one off yourself, use flint and steel on it. Move away—the fuse lasts about 16 seconds, and the blast can hurt nearby creatures, including you.

Overview

Flashbang is a large sea lion that can swim in water and lava. It is immune to lava and fire damage. Wild Flashbangs are hostile to players; tamed ones become defenders.

What It Adds

• One tameable, combat-focused sea lion mob.
• A fuse-and-detonate ability that can protect its owner—or be triggered manually.
• Drops of leather and beef when killed. Beef is cooked if the Flashbang is on fire when it dies. Player kills also have a small chance to drop magma cream.

How To Use

Use salmon or cooked salmon on a wild Flashbang to try to tame it. Once tamed, it follows you and attacks creatures that hurt you or that you attack. It does not target players as prey.

Using flint and steel on a Flashbang starts its fuse and uses some of the tool’s durability. During the countdown, it shakes, smokes, and periodically damages and knocks back visible living creatures nearby. At the end, it explodes, damaging and throwing back visible living creatures within range, then disappears.

A tamed Flashbang also starts its fuse when you are hurt by another entity while it is nearby. The blast can still hit you and other nearby creatures, so give it space.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are no crafting recipes for Flashbang. Find one in a Crimson Forest, use its spawn egg from the Creative inventory, or summon it with the command in Quickstart.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Melee attack: Deals damage and knocks back its target.
• Taming: Salmon and cooked salmon each have a 35% chance to tame it.
• Lava and fire resistance: It can swim and breathe in lava and takes no damage from lava or fire.
• Fuse: Lasts about 16 seconds. While fusing, it can attack nearby visible creatures; the final blast damages and knocks back visible living targets.

Progression And Strategy

Tame a Flashbang before bringing it into dangerous fights: an untamed one attacks players. Keep it close enough to defend you, but be ready to retreat if it begins fusing. Since it is consumed by its detonation, save manual ignition for moments when you want a one-use blast.
