Falling Moon Fury

Quickstart

1. Install the .mcaddon and apply both the Behavior Pack and Resource Pack to your world.
2. Load into the Overworld and play until the game approaches midnight (time ~18000).
3. Watch for the chat warning: "The moon is breaking orbit. It will crash at midnight." — this is your cue to act.
4. Your action bar will count down the seconds to impact. Use this time to dig a shelter, get underground, or sprint away from open ground.
5. Survive the blast, then explore the resulting crater to salvage Moon Fragments (amethyst shards).

Overview

Falling Moon Fury turns every in-game midnight into a dangerous, world-scarring event. Once per day, the moon crashes into the Overworld near players, unleashing explosions, fire, lava, lightning, and TNT blasts. The landscape is permanently altered with craters, magma, and scorch marks. The mod creates a repeating survival loop: prepare → survive → scavenge → repeat.

How To Use

The Warning Phase

When the day cycle nears midnight, every player in the Overworld receives:

• A chat message: "The moon is breaking orbit. It will crash at midnight."
• An action bar alert: "WARNING: DAILY MOON IMPACT INCOMING"

Shortly before impact, the action bar switches to a live countdown: "Moonfall in Xs — seek cover!"

The Impact

At midnight, a full-screen title reads "THE MOON HAS CRASHED" with the subtitle "Mass damage rains across the world." The impact site (near a player's position) is hit with:

• A massive explosion dealing 36 damage to all entities within the impact radius
• A lightning bolt strike at the epicenter
• 6 TNT projectiles raining down
• Huge explosion and lava particles
• A loud explosion sound audible up to 80 blocks away
• Thunderstorm weather activated for an extended duration

The Aftermath

The crater site is permanently reshaped:

• The ground is blasted out, leaving a hollow crater
• Magma blocks cover the crater floor
• Lava pools appear at several points in the crater
• Fire spreads across the surrounding area

Salvaging Moon Fragments

Players who survive and are present near the crater automatically receive a reward message:

"You salvaged 3 Moon Fragments from the crater at X, Y, Z."

This grants 3 amethyst shards (Moon Fragments) directly to the player's inventory.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Impact location is calculated relative to a player's position in the Overworld — the moon always comes down near someone.
• Damage from the explosion is 36 points (18 hearts), enough to kill most unarmored players.
• Magma and lava in the crater persist indefinitely, making the site hazardous long after impact.
• Fire can spread to nearby flammable blocks, potentially burning down forests or wooden structures.
• Thunderstorm triggered by the impact lasts approximately 30 in-game minutes, enabling additional mob spawns and lightning strikes.
• The event only affects the Overworld — the Nether and End are safe.

Progression And Strategy

Sheltering: The safest strategy is to be underground or inside a reinforced structure by midnight. The blast radius is significant, but deep earth blocks the explosion damage entirely.

Evacuation: If you have time, sprint away from the likely impact zone. The further you are, the less likely the crater spawns on top of you.

Scavenging: After surviving, always check the crater for your Moon Fragment reward. Over multiple nights, these amethyst shards accumulate and can be used in vanilla crafting recipes.

Base Building: Avoid building wooden structures in open areas — fires from the impact can spread and burn them down. Stone, deepslate, or underground bases are far more resilient.

Threat Awareness: The thunderstorm following each impact allows charged creepers and other lightning-sensitive mobs to spawn, adding danger to post-impact exploration. Gear up before heading into the crater.
