Exodus Index

Quickstart

1. An operator (server admin or someone with the /exodus command) must grant you access before you can use the index.
2. Once granted, press Shift+M from any in-game screen to open the Exodus Index browser.
3. Type to search for an item, or scroll the list with the mouse wheel or arrow keys.
4. Click an item to add one to your inventory. Shift+click to receive a full stack.
5. Press M or Esc to close the browser.

Overview

Exodus Index is an in-game item browser that lets authorised players instantly retrieve any item from installed mods. Vanilla Minecraft items are deliberately excluded — the index only shows items added by other mods. Access is controlled by operators, so players on a server can only use it if a server admin has explicitly enabled it for them.

What It Adds

• The Exodus Index item — a glowing held item whose tooltip reminds you of the key bindings. It acts as a physical token of access.
• An in-game browser UI — a full-screen animated panel listing every modded item available, organised into searchable categories.
• Operator access control — a permission layer so server admins decide exactly who can use the index.

How To Use

Opening the Browser

Press Shift+M at any time while in-game (not while another screen is open). The server checks your access before the screen appears. If you are not authorised, you will see a message in the action bar explaining that access was denied.

Navigating the UI

Category Chips

The browser organises all modded items into the following sections:

• All — every item from every mod
• Blocks — placeable blocks
• Combat — weapons and combat gear
• Tools — pickaxes, axes, shovels, and similar
• Armor — wearable protective items
• Consumables — food, potions, and other usable items
• Items — general mod items that don't fit the above categories
• Favorites — items you have right-clicked to mark as favourites

Mod Tabs

Along the side of the browser, each installed mod has its own tab. You can also view All Mods combined in one list.

Obtaining Items

• Single item: Click any entry in the list.
• Full stack: Shift+click any entry.

The server validates every request. Items from the vanilla minecraft namespace are always blocked, even if somehow requested.

Abilities And Mechanics

Favorites

Right-click any item inside the browser to toggle a favourite marker on it. Favourited items appear highlighted and are also collected in the dedicated Favorites chip/tab for quick access across sessions. Favourites persist between play sessions via the client config.

Search Modes

The search bar supports two modes configurable in Settings:

• Fuzzy (default) — finds items even with partial or approximate name matches.
• Exact — only returns items whose names contain the typed string precisely.

An auto-suggest option can also be toggled to show suggestions as you type.

Sorting

Items within each category can be sorted. The default is Alphabetical; additional sorting preferences are available in the Settings screen.

Operator Access Control

Operators manage access with the /exodus command. Access records are saved to the world and persist across restarts.

Only players who have been explicitly granted access can open the browser. The Exodus Index item itself can be given to a player to serve as a physical token, but the server-side permission check is what ultimately gates usage.

Progression And Strategy

Because Exodus Index is operator-gated, it is best suited for creative servers, modpack testing environments, or admin-assisted survival worlds where select players need fast access to modded content without hunting down crafting recipes.

• Ask your server operator to run /exodus grant <yourname> to unlock the browser for you.
• Use the Favorites tab to bookmark items you reach for frequently, cutting down on repeat searches.
• Combine category chips with the search bar to narrow large mod item lists quickly — especially useful on modpacks with dozens of mods installed.
• The Fuzzy search mode is ideal for when you only remember part of an item's name; switch to Exact if the fuzzy results are too broad.
