Mod Wiki
Eternal Sword Horde
Quickstart
- No crafting required — the horde spawns automatically. Just load into a world with the pack active and keep playing.
- Every in-game dawn and dusk, a horde of 100 undead swordsmen rises around each player.
- Nearby zombies and phantoms will gradually be replaced by horde members as time passes.
- Fight them for loot, but be warned: they get dramatically tougher every day. Bring your best gear early on!
- If you want to see one up close without waiting, you can spawn one manually using its spawn egg from the creative inventory.
Overview
Eternal Sword Horde turns the ordinary undead threat of Minecraft into a relentless, ever-escalating siege. Twice a day — at dawn and at dusk — a massive wave of sword-wielding undead rises around every player in the world. These are not ordinary zombies: they hunt in packs, wield weapons, swim and climb obstacles, and become punishingly strong as the days go by. Regular zombies and phantoms in the area are also converted into horde members over time, so the horde's presence steadily grows.
What It Adds
- Eternal Sword Horde — a custom undead mob that behaves like an armed zombie: it walks, swims, climbs, breaks down doors, and aggressively hunts players within a wide radius.
- Eternal Sword Horde Spawn Egg — lets you summon individual horde members directly from your inventory, for testing or just for a good fight.
- Automatic horde waves — no setup required; hordes appear on their own, tied to the day/night cycle.
- Escalating difficulty — each new Minecraft day makes the horde far tougher than the last.
How To Use
- Just play. The mod runs entirely in the background. Every dawn and dusk, a horde of 100 members spawns in a ring around you, roughly 24–42 blocks away.
- Watch for the announcement. When a horde rises, you'll see a chat message like: "A horde of 100 has risen. Day X: Y HP each." This tells you how strong that day's horde is.
- Fighting them: Horde members act like aggressive zombies — they'll chase and melee attack you and can break down doors to reach you. They deal solid melee damage, so don't get swarmed.
- Conversion effect: Regular zombies and phantoms that wander close to you may be silently replaced with horde members. Don't be surprised if a normal zombie suddenly looks and fights differently.
- Spawn conditions: Horde members spawn in dark areas, both on the surface and underground, matching typical monster spawn biomes — so caves and night-time surfaces are common horde territory.
- Interacting: You can name a horde member using a name tag, just like other mobs, since they support naming.
Crafting And Obtaining
There is no crafting recipe for this mod's content — the horde is not crafted, only encountered or manually spawned.
- To manually place a horde member, use the Eternal Sword Horde Spawn Egg, found in the creative inventory alongside other spawn eggs. Use it on the ground like any vanilla spawn egg to summon one member.
- Horde members also appear naturally as part of the automatic dawn/dusk waves and through conversion of nearby zombies and phantoms.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Twice-daily waves: A new horde of 100 members spawns near every online player at each in-game dawn and dusk.
- Daily power scaling: Each horde member's effective health starts around 20 HP on day one and multiplies by roughly 6x for every day that passes. This means hordes encountered on later days can have enormous effective health pools — they take drastically more hits to bring down than earlier ones.
- Apparent invulnerability: Horde members appear to have massive raw health bars, but their true toughness is tracked separately and reduced by any damage you deal, so consistent attacks will eventually take them down — it just takes far more effort on later days.
- Undead conversion: Nearby vanilla zombies and phantoms are periodically swapped out for horde members, so the undead population around you skews more and more toward the horde over time.
- Combat behavior: Horde members target and chase players within a wide radius, attack in melee, and can break down doors, climb, and swim to reach their target.
- Loot on defeat: Defeating a horde member can reward you with an enchanted diamond sword (a chance to have Sharpness, Unbreaking, Fire Aspect, Looting, Mending, and Knockback), rotten flesh, and — with luck, especially when using Looting — an iron ingot, carrot, or potato.
- Equipped weapon: Horde members carry an enchanted diamond sword as their weapon, matching the sword you may loot from them.
Progression And Strategy
- Early days are manageable: On day one, horde members have modest health, similar to a slightly durable zombie. This is the best time to farm easy loot and practice fighting them.
- Difficulty ramps up fast: Because horde toughness multiplies roughly sixfold each day, waiting too long before engaging can make later hordes extremely difficult to clear with basic gear. Stay proactive rather than letting hordes pile up.
- Prioritize gear upgrades: The enchanted diamond swords dropped by horde members are excellent early- to mid-game weapons — collecting a few can meaningfully boost your combat capability against later, stronger hordes.
- Manage horde density: Since ordinary zombies and phantoms convert into horde members over time, areas you frequent may accumulate horde presence — clearing hordes regularly keeps your base and travel routes safer.
- Watch the clock: Since waves trigger precisely at dawn and dusk, you can plan ahead — retreat, fortify, or prepare gear shortly before those times if you expect a tough fight.
