Description:
/locate biome com_empire_of_the_undead_3owoqnv6:nyc_biome
Empire Of The Undead transforms a region of your overworld into a post-apocalyptic New York City. The biome is packed with hand-crafted structures and hostile mobs that threaten players at every turn. A living mutation system ensures that every zombie you face is unique and that the threat escalates in unpredictable ways as in-game days pass.
A fully custom overworld biome themed around a ruined version of New York City. It generates the following structures within its borders:
| Mob | Type | Where Found |
|---|---|---|
| NYC Apocalypse Zombie | Hostile monster | Surface and underground throughout the biome |
| Subway Zombie | Hostile monster | Surface and underground, concentrated near subway areas |
| NYC Survivor NPC | Passive NPC | Surface, rare spawns in the biome |
All three mobs also have spawn eggs available for use in Creative mode or via commands.
Use /locate biome com_empire_of_the_undead_3owoqnv6:nyc_biome to get coordinates. The biome is a natural overworld addition and will generate in new chunks.
At all times while playing, your action bar displays a message like:
NYC Apocalypse Day 4 | 15,000,000 zombie mutations active
The Apocalypse Day counts up with each Minecraft day that passes. The mutation count reflects the full pool of possible zombie variants that can appear each day.
NYC Survivor NPCs are passive and cannot be harmed. Approach one and interact with them (tap or right-click) to open their NPC dialogue panel. They are persistent and will not despawn naturally.
Explore buildings, elevated stations, and subway tunnels for loot encounters. Zombies inside structures can drop useful resources — kill them to collect drops and clear areas for looting.
Every zombie — both NYC Apocalypse Zombies and Subway Zombies — receives a mutation when it spawns. The mutation is determined by the current Apocalypse Day combined with each individual zombie's identity, producing up to 15,000,000 unique variants. When a new Minecraft day begins, all zombies that spawn receive a fresh mutation.
Each mutated zombie is assigned one of these mutation names:
The zombie's name tag shows its mutation name and a unique variant number (e.g. Tunnel Runner #482931).
Depending on the variant, a zombie may also receive one or more status effects on spawn:
| Effect | Trigger Condition |
|---|---|
| Speed | Approximately 1 in 5 variants |
| Strength | Approximately 1 in 7 variants |
| Resistance | Approximately 1 in 11 variants |
These effects make some zombies noticeably faster, harder-hitting, or tougher than others. Pay attention to the name tag — a zombie you've never seen before may be far more dangerous than a standard one.
Both zombie types share the following traits:
| Drop | Conditions |
|---|---|
| Rotten Flesh (0–2) | Always on death |
| Iron Ingot, Carrot, or Potato (1 item, random) | ~2.5% chance; player or pet kill only; improved slightly by Looting |
Early days — The biome is dense and dangerous from the moment you arrive. Prioritise finding shelter inside a brownstone or elevated station before nightfall. Clear rooms one at a time and watch for groups hiding in dark corners.
Tracking mutations — Use the action bar readout to know what day you're on. As days increase, the mutation seed changes, meaning the specific mix of fast, strong, or resistant zombies you face shifts completely. A set of corridors that felt manageable on Day 3 may be swarming with Speed-buffed zombies on Day 4.
Survivor NPCs — Seek out NYC Survivor NPCs. They are immune to all damage and serve as safe reference points in an otherwise hostile biome. Interact with them whenever you find one.
Subway tunnels — These underground areas generate unique encounters and are the primary habitat of Subway Zombies. They spawn in packs of up to 7 in tight spaces, making lighting and chokepoint fighting essential. Bring plenty of torches to eliminate spawning darkness.
Looting enchantment — Equipping a Looting-enchanted sword improves the rare drop chance from both zombie types, making it worthwhile to invest in enchanting before deep-diving into subway tunnels.
Door security — Both zombie types can break wooden doors. Use stronger door alternatives or barricade entrances with solid blocks if you intend to hold a position inside a structure overnight.
