Quickstart

1. Head out into the world and start fighting — Misfortune Legionnaires will spawn naturally around you, and hostile mobs you encounter may transform into them too.
2. Defeat Legionnaires to collect Misfortune Medals.
3. Use your medals to craft one (or all) of three summoning items:
   • — Luck Dragon Whistle
   • — Villain's Whistle
   • — Witherling Charm
4. Hold the crafted item and use it (right-click / interact) to summon a loyal companion at your side.
5. Keep exploring — the Legion never truly stops. New waves will keep appearing as you clear out nearby ones.

Overview

Emerald Misfortune Legion turns the world into a battleground against an endless army of hostile invaders called the Misfortune Legion, while also giving you the tools to summon your own allies to fight back. Ordinary hostile mobs are at risk of being swept up and replaced by Legionnaires, and defeating them rewards you with Misfortune Medals — the currency used to call in powerful pets: a flying Luck Dragon, a spectral Witherling, and a loyal Villain.

What It Adds

Hostile Forces

• Misfortune Legionnaire — A pillager-like raider that spawns in roaming hordes and can fight at range or in melee. Herds of Legionnaires appear on the surface, and they continually reinforce themselves near players.

Companion Pets

• Pet Luck Dragon — A flying, tamed companion summoned by the Dragon Whistle. Follows and glides alongside you.
• Pet Witherling — A hovering, flying companion summoned by the Witherling Charm.
• Pet Villain — A wild creature that spawns in taiga/forest biomes, can be tamed with bones, breeds with food, and can be ridden. Also summonable directly using the Villain's Whistle.

Summoning Items

• Luck Dragon Whistle — Summons a Pet Luck Dragon.
• Witherling Charm — Summons a Pet Witherling.
• Villain's Whistle — Summons a Pet Villain.
• Misfortune Medal — Dropped by defeated Legionnaires; the key crafting ingredient for all three summoning items.

How To Use

• Fighting the Legion: Misfortune Legionnaires spawn in groups in the open world and will also appear when certain hostile mobs (zombies, skeletons, creepers, witches, endermen, and more) are nearby — those mobs can be replaced by Legionnaires as the Legion spreads its influence. Legionnaires attack with both melee strikes and ranged arrows, switching styles based on whether they're in water.
• Collecting Medals: Every Legionnaire you defeat has a chance to drop 1–2 Misfortune Medals. Stock up on these before crafting your summons.
• Summoning Companions: Craft a whistle or charm, then use the item to call a companion. It will spawn near you, receive a personalized name tag, and begin following you. Summoned pets that wander too far away will automatically teleport back to your side.
• Taming Wild Villains: Pet Villains can also be found roaming taiga and forest-like biomes in small herds. Feed them bones to tame them, and breed tamed adults with meat or rotten flesh to raise more.
• Cooldowns: Each summoning item has a short cooldown between uses, so you can't spam-summon the same pet type instantly.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft your summoning items using a Misfortune Medal earned from Legion combat, combined with common materials:

• — Luck Dragon Whistle (emerald, medal, stick)
• — Villain's Whistle (leather, medal)
• — Witherling Charm (soul sand, medal, bone)

Misfortune Medals themselves are not crafted — they only come from defeating Misfortune Legionnaires.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Endless Waves: The Misfortune Legion actively maintains its numbers near players — if too few Legionnaires remain nearby, a new horde of several Legionnaires will spawn to renew the threat.
• Mob Corruption: Common hostile mobs wandering close to you have a chance to be quietly swapped out for Misfortune Legionnaires, turning ordinary encounters into Legion encounters over time.
• Flying Escorts: The Luck Dragon and Witherling companions hover and fly freely, ignoring gravity, and will stay close to their owner without taking fall damage.
• Loyal Villain: The Pet Villain can become angry and defend itself, and once tamed it can be ridden and bred like other companion mobs.

Progression And Strategy

Start by surviving the roaming Legionnaire hordes and gathering Misfortune Medals from your kills. As you build up a stockpile of medals, craft your preferred summoning tools to build a personal squad — a Luck Dragon for aerial support, a Witherling for eerie backup, and a tamed or summoned Villain for melee muscle. Since the Legion continually reinforces itself, expect ongoing skirmishes rather than a single final battle: the more you fight, the more medals you earn, and the stronger your entourage of allies can grow.
