Earth Axe

Quickstart

1. Craft the Earth Axe using the recipe below and pull it from the Tools & Utilities creative tab.
2. Stand facing a slope or gap you want to cross.
3. Right-click (use item) to instantly raise a 5-block dirt staircase rising up and forward from your feet.
4. Walk up the stairs — repeat as needed, waiting the short 2-second cooldown between uses.

Overview

The Earth Axe is an iron-tier axe with a bonus terrain-shaping ability. In addition to chopping wood like any axe, a quick right-click reshapes the ground in front of you, letting you climb hills, bridge gaps, or build impromptu ramps on the fly — all without opening your inventory.

What It Adds

How To Use

• Chop wood — works as a standard iron axe against any axe-mineable block.
• Raise terrain — right-click while holding the Earth Axe to place 5 dirt blocks in a rising staircase pattern directly in front of you. Each block is placed one step forward and one step higher than the last, starting from the block immediately in front of your feet.
  • Blocks are only placed in air or other replaceable spaces; existing solid blocks are never overwritten.
  • A grass-placement sound plays when the staircase is created.

The Earth Axe is found in the Tools & Utilities creative tab and can be crafted as follows:

Note: The recipe uses dirt where a standard axe would use a metal ingot, reflecting the axe's earthy nature.

Abilities And Mechanics

• The staircase always extends in the horizontal direction you are currently facing, so aim carefully before activating.
• If all 5 target positions are already occupied, no blocks are placed, no durability is consumed, and no cooldown is triggered.
• The dirt placed is standard dirt and can be removed or built on just like any naturally placed dirt block.

Progression And Strategy

• Early traversal: Craft the Earth Axe at the start of a survival-style session as a cheap ramp tool — dirt is free and sticks are trivial to obtain.
• Gap crossing: Face across a ravine or river, activate, and quickly walk the fresh ramp before enemies catch up.
• Hill climbing: Stand at the base of a steep hill, activate once or twice, and ascend without having to spiral around.
• Durability management: Each right-click use costs only 1 durability, so the iron-tier durability pool gives you many activations before the axe breaks. Reserve the ability for meaningful terrain obstacles rather than flat ground.
