Death Note

Quickstart

1. Craft the Death Note using a Book surrounded by Feathers (see recipe below).
2. Hold the Death Note in either hand and right-click to open the notebook screen.
3. In the Name field, type the exact in-game name of a player or a mob type (e.g. Zombie, Creeper).
4. Optionally, enter a Cause of Death in the second field.
5. Click Seal Fate to execute the entry. Click Clear Page to start over.

Overview

The Death Note is a single, powerful dark-arts item. Open it, write a name, and seal the page — fate does the rest. The notebook glows with an enchantment sheen and carries the tooltip "A name is enough. A cause is optional." It sits in the Tools item group and can even be placed in bookshelves.

How To Use

Opening the Notebook

Hold the Death Note in your main hand or off-hand and press your Use / Right-Click key. The notebook UI opens as a two-page spread:

• Left page — displays the five rules of the Death Note for reference.
• Right page — contains the two input fields and action buttons.

Writing an Entry

Click Seal Fate to submit. A dark-red action bar message confirms the outcome. Click Clear Page to wipe both fields without submitting.

Abilities And Mechanics

Targeting Players

Write an online player's exact username. You cannot write your own name. If a Cause of Death is left blank (or set to heart attack variants), the target dies instantly of a magical heart attack.

Targeting Mobs

Write a mob type name (e.g. Creeper, Skeleton, Enderman). Every currently loaded instance of that mob type across the world is killed at once. The notebook reports how many were claimed.

The cause field changes how a player target is killed. Supported causes include:

Note: Cause of death only applies to player targets. Mob targets are always killed outright regardless of what is written in the cause field.

Progression And Strategy

• The recipe is automatically unlocked when you join a world — no prior advancements required.
• The Death Note is a max-stack-of-1 item; only one fits in a slot at a time.
• Choose your cause carefully: some causes (fire, anvil) can be survived with the right armor or resistance effects, while the default heart attack is instant and unavoidable.
• When targeting mobs, keep in mind only loaded (nearby, active) mobs are affected — mobs in unloaded chunks are safe.
• The Death Note can be stored on a bookshelf like any other book.
