Quickstart

1. Craft or find a bag of Doritos — surround a piece of Wheat with Paper in a crafting grid (see recipe below), or loot one from a chest in any village building (~5% chance).
2. Hold right-click with Doritos in hand to start eating. Keep the button held for the full 18 seconds until you hear the animation finish.
3. Release right-click at any time to cancel — you won't consume the item and can try again.

Overview

Crunch Time Chips adds a single snack item called Doritos to Minecraft. It is a powerful but slow food: it fully restores five drumsticks of hunger and provides a generous saturation bonus, at the cost of an unusually long 18-second eating time. Managing that commitment is the core gameplay loop.

What It Adds

Doritos appear in the Food and Drinks creative inventory tab.

How To Use

• Eating: Hold right-click with Doritos in your main or off hand. The standard eating animation plays for the entire 18-second duration.
• Sound: A single crunch sound plays when you begin eating. If you release right-click or are interrupted (hit, move your cursor off the item, etc.), the sound stops immediately. Starting again replays the crunch from the beginning — sounds never overlap.
• Finishing: Only after holding right-click for the full 18 seconds will the Doritos be consumed and your hunger restored.
• Hunger requirement: You must not have a full hunger bar to eat Doritos (same as vanilla food).

Crafting And Obtaining

Loot — Doritos can also be found in village chests. Every village building chest type — from the armorer and butcher to the plains house and weaponsmith — has approximately a 5% chance of containing one. Keep an eye out while raiding villages for supplies.

Abilities And Mechanics

• High saturation means hunger drains much more slowly after eating, making a single bag of Doritos very efficient for sustaining you through long activities.
• Long eat time is the trade-off. At 18 seconds you are vulnerable to interruptions. Being hit, opening inventory, or releasing right-click all cancel the eating and waste your progress on that attempt.
• The crunch sound is intentional feedback — if you hear it stop early, you know you were interrupted.

Progression And Strategy

• Early game: Doritos are craftable with basic materials (Paper + Wheat), making them accessible before you have a proper farm.
• Safe situations: Save Doritos for moments when you're safely indoors or AFK-stationary — the 18-second window is risky in combat.
• Village exploration: Finding Doritos in village loot is a nice bonus during early exploration and saves you the crafting materials.
• Saturation efficiency: The high saturation value means one bag can keep your hunger bar full through significant activity, making it one of the most efficient foods per item slot for long trips.
