Description
Cocoa Gear adds a sweet early-game equipment tier built around Hardened Chocolate, a new crafting and repair ingredient made from cocoa beans and sugar. Use Hardened Chocolate to craft a full set of Chocolate tools (sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe) and Chocolate armor (helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots), all with custom stats, textures, and wearable visuals that show damage as they wear. Everything integrates with vanilla crafting and anvil repair, letting you mine, fight, and outfit yourself with a unique chocolate-themed progression right from the start of survival.

Cocoa Gear
Quickstart
- Find cocoa beans (from jungle cocoa pods) and sugar (from sugar cane).
- Craft Hardened Chocolate — combine one cocoa bean and one sugar anywhere in your crafting grid to get 2 Hardened Chocolate.
- Use Hardened Chocolate like any other material (iron, wood, etc.) to craft tools and armor at a crafting table.
- Equip your Chocolate Armor and head out — the pieces display damage visually as they wear down.
- Repair everything at an anvil using Hardened Chocolate or raw cocoa beans.

Abilities And Mechanics
Tool stats — Chocolate tools have 384 durability, a speed of 7.0, and attack damage bonus of 2.0. They are effective on the same blocks as their iron counterparts (pickaxe mines iron-tier blocks, axe chops wood, etc.).
Armor protection — The full Chocolate Armor set provides:
- Helmet: 2 armor points
- Chestplate: 6 armor points
- Leggings: 5 armor points
- Boots: 2 armor points
- Toughness: 0.5
Visual damage — Armor pieces show visible wear as their durability drops, giving you a at-a-glance indicator of condition while equipped.
Anvil repair — All Chocolate tools and armor can be repaired at an anvil using either Hardened Chocolate or raw Cocoa Beans.
Progression And Strategy
Cocoa Gear is designed for the very start of a playthrough. Jungle biomes provide cocoa pods on trees, and sugar cane grows near water — neither resource requires any mining. This makes Chocolate Gear a viable first equipment set before you've established an iron supply.
- Prioritize the axe and pickaxe early; they let you gather wood and stone faster while dealing reasonable melee damage.
- Craft the full armor set for the visual durability feedback — handy when you don't yet have the resources to repair frequently.
- Stock cocoa beans for repairs; since cocoa is renewable (replanting pods on jungle logs), you can maintain the gear indefinitely.
- Transition to iron gear when available, but keep Chocolate tools around as backups — they're cheap to replace.
