The Chainhook Spiked Ball is a close-quarters melee weapon built for raw, heavy-hitting combat. Every swing delivers your normal attack damage plus a significant bonus hit, making each strike noticeably more powerful than a standard weapon of its materials. It fits naturally into the Combat item group alongside swords and axes.

How To Use

• Equip the Chainhook Spiked Ball in your main hand.
• Attack enemies exactly as you would with a sword — left-click to swing.
• Each successful hit deals your base attack damage and an additional 7 points of bonus damage (3.5 hearts), applied automatically on contact.
• A chain-break sound plays at the point of impact to confirm the bonus damage triggered.
• The weapon loses 1 durability per hit. When durability runs low, repair it at an anvil using iron ingots.

The recipe is granted to all players automatically upon joining a world, so it will already appear in your recipe book. Craft it at any crafting table:

Abilities And Mechanics

• Bonus Damage: Every hit applies 7 extra points of generic damage on top of your standard melee attack. This bonus is separate from your hand's base damage, enchantments, and strength effects, meaning all of those stack on top.
• Impact Sound: A chain-break sound effect plays at the target's location on each successful hit, confirming the strike connected.
• Durability Cost: Each hit consumes 1 durability. With 250 total uses, the weapon lasts a decent while before needing repair.
• Anvil Repair: Combine the Chainhook Spiked Ball with iron ingots at an anvil to restore its durability. It cannot be repaired in a crafting grid.

Progression And Strategy

• The Chainhook Spiked Ball shines in early-to-mid game when the flat +7 bonus damage represents a large portion of a mob's health pool.
• Because the bonus damage is applied separately, it bypasses some damage modifiers and hits consistently — making it reliable against tough targets.
• Keep iron ingots on hand so you can repair at an anvil before the weapon breaks entirely; a broken Chainhook Spiked Ball deals no bonus damage.
• Pair with damage-boosting enchantments (Sharpness, Smite, Bane of Arthropods) on top of the flat bonus for maximum impact per swing.
