Description
At night, a stone-legged giant grabs you—and grows stronger by swallowing monsters.
Mod Wiki
Carapace
Quickstart
- Find Carapace outdoors in a dark mountain area, especially at night. It can spawn naturally on mountain surfaces when light levels are low.
- To try one immediately in Creative, use the Carapace Spawn Egg or run
/summon com_carapace_u46dv4hs:mycustom. - Keep your distance and watch its attacks. It targets nearby players, bites at close range, and can slam players around it.
- Nearby monsters may be swallowed. Be especially cautious if it swallows a primed Creeper: that can trigger a dangerous stomach burst.
Overview
Carapace is a towering, stone-legged hostile mob. It pursues players and also swallows nearby monsters, becoming stronger as it does. Its large frame and high health make it a dangerous encounter; fighting near other monsters can make it more powerful.
What It Adds
- Carapace, a hostile giant that naturally appears on dark mountain surfaces.
- A bite, a knockback slam, and a monster-swallowing behavior.
- A stomach-burst reaction if Carapace swallows a primed Creeper.
How To Use
Carapace is an enemy, not a mob you control. It seeks players within range and approaches them on its own. At close range, it can bite and fling a player; when players are nearby, it can also slam the ground to damage and knock them back.
It may pause its attacks to swallow a nearby monster it can see. Give it space during this animation, and be ready for its strength to increase afterward.
Crafting And Obtaining
There is no crafting recipe for Carapace. Find it naturally on mountain surfaces in low light, or spawn it with the Creative Spawn Egg or this command:
/summon com_carapace_u46dv4hs:mycustom
When killed, Carapace can drop:
- 2–5 diorite
- 1–3 calcite
- 0–2 string
- An ink sac, rarely
Looting can increase drops.
Abilities And Mechanics
Carapace has 180 health. Each monster it swallows increases its strength by one, up to 12, and restores up to 8 health if it is missing health. Greater strength makes its attacks stronger.
A swallowed primed Creeper triggers a struggle. After the struggle, Carapace bursts: the explosion does not break blocks or start fires, but it damages Carapace and sends swallowed monsters flying back out. Its stored strength resets.
Progression And Strategy
Avoid letting Carapace feed on monsters before you fight it; each one strengthens its attacks. Keep moving to avoid the close-range bite and the slam’s knockback. If it swallows a primed Creeper, create distance and wait for the burst before closing in again.
