Description
The Bonebound Blade is a skeleton-themed sword that turns any mob you slay with it into a loyal Bonebound Servant: simply wield the blade and cut down enemies to grow an undead ally that remembers you as its owner, persists through world reloads, and automatically defends you by targeting mobs that attack or pursue you. Servants that share the same owner are now protected allies — they will not target, attack, retaliate against, or damage each other, and any invalid allied targets are cleared during AI ticks so your bonebound army behaves reliably and never fights itself.
Mod Wiki
Bonebound Blade
Quickstart
- Craft the Bonebound Blade using two Bone Blocks and one Bone:

- Hold the blade and attack any non-player mob until it dies.
- Watch it rise as your Bonebound Servant — a loyal skeleton ally named above its head.
- Repeat to build an army. Your servants will automatically defend you and never fight each other.
Overview
The Bonebound Blade is a skeleton-themed sword with a single powerful twist: every mob you kill with it is reborn as a Bonebound Servant bound to you. Your servants persist through world reloads, defend you automatically, and cooperate peacefully with one another.
What It Adds
| Content | Description |
|---|---|
| Bonebound Blade | A sword (found in the Combat creative tab) that converts slain mobs into undead servants |
| Bonebound Servant | A persistent skeleton ally that defends its owner and ignores other servants |
How To Use
- Killing a mob with the Bonebound Blade causes it to disappear in a burst of soul particles and reappear as a Bonebound Servant at the same location.
- Any mob can be converted except players and existing Bonebound Servants.
- Your servants display the name "Bonebound Servant" above their heads so you can identify them easily.
- You do not need to do anything to direct your servants — their AI handles targeting automatically.
Abilities And Mechanics
Bonebound Servants
- Owner memory — Each servant remembers which player created it. This relationship persists through world saves and reloads.
- Auto-defense — If a mob is actively targeting or attacking you, your nearby servants will seek it out and attack it.
- Retaliation — Servants also retaliate when they are hurt, as long as the attacker is not a fellow servant.
- Friendly fire immunity — Servants that share the same owner will never target, attack, damage, or retaliate against each other. Any accidental allied targeting is cleared every AI tick.
- Persistence — Servants will not despawn naturally; they stay in the world until killed.
The Blade Itself
The Bonebound Blade has stats comparable to an iron sword with slightly elevated damage. It is tagged as a sword, so it works with all standard sword enchantments and mechanics.
Progression And Strategy
- Early army building — Start converting common mobs (zombies, skeletons, spiders) as soon as you craft the blade to build a quick defensive force.
- Snowball effect — The more servants you have, the safer you are, which makes it easier to gather more kills and grow your army further.
- No friendly fire — Feel free to fight alongside your servants in close quarters; they will never accidentally harm each other.
- Persistence pays off — Because servants survive world reloads, you can park a group of them near a base or farm for passive area defense.
