Bone Barrage Shield

Quickstart

1. Open your crafting table and craft the Bone Barrage Shield using the recipe below.
2. Place it in your off-hand slot.
3. Hold the use button (right-click by default) to raise the shield and block incoming attacks.
4. When a hostile mob hits you while you're blocking, the shield automatically fires a spread of fire charges back at the attacker — no extra input needed.

Overview

The Bone Barrage Shield is a bone-themed off-hand shield that combines defensive blocking with an automatic fiery counterattack. It works just like a standard shield for blocking, but punishes any hostile mob that strikes you by unleashing a volley of small fire charges in their direction.

What It Adds

• Bone Barrage Shield — A single off-hand shield item found in the Combat creative tab. It has a distinctive bone aesthetic and its own custom model.

How To Use

• Equip the shield in your off-hand.
• Hold the use button to block. While blocking, incoming attacks from hostile mobs are fully reduced.
• On a successful block against a hostile mob, seven small fire charges automatically fan out toward the attacker. You do not need to do anything extra — the counterattack fires on its own.
• The fire charges spread in a horizontal arc, giving you good coverage against your target.

Abilities And Mechanics

• The shield can be repaired using wood tool materials (planks, etc.) in an anvil.
• The shield uses standard shield block and break sounds.
• Damage types that bypass shields (such as certain magic effects) are not blocked.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Bone Barrage Shield at a crafting table. The recipe unlocks automatically when you join a world.

Progression And Strategy

• The 10,000-durability pool means the shield holds up through very long fights and extended dungeon runs without needing frequent repairs.
• Pairing the shield with a sword or axe in your main hand lets you block, trigger the fire charge volley, then immediately follow up with your own melee attack.
• The seven-charge spread is effective against a single attacker and can catch nearby enemies in the arc.
• Because the counterattack only triggers against hostile mobs, you won't accidentally fire on other players or passive animals while blocking.
• Bring wood planks as repair material on long expeditions to keep the shield in fighting shape.
