Description

Bomb Block — a placeable block that acts like a bomb: can be placed and activated (by redstone or interaction) to detonate after a short fuse, damaging nearby blocks and entities.

Mod Wiki

Bomb Block

Quickstart

  1. Craft a Bomb Block at a crafting table using TNT and gunpowder (recipe below).
  2. Place the Bomb Block anywhere in the world like a normal block.
  3. Arm it by interacting with it (tap/right-click). You'll hear a fuse sound and see flame particles.
  4. Run! After about 2 seconds the block detonates — damaging and knocking back nearby entities and destroying surrounding blocks.

Overview

Bomb Block is a Bedrock Edition mod for Minecraft 1.21.93. It adds a single craftable block — the Bomb Block (com_bomb_block_7difxp7r:my_block) — that combines the destructive power of TNT with the convenience of a placeable, reusable item. Place it, arm it, and watch it blow.

How To Use

Placing

The Bomb Block is placed like any normal full block. It appears in the Construction category of the creative/survival inventory.

Arming — Two Methods

MethodHow
InteractionTap the block (Bedrock interact) to light the fuse immediately.
RedstoneConnect any redstone signal to the block; it arms automatically when power is detected.

Fuse & Detonation

  • Once armed, the fuse burns for roughly 2 seconds (40 game ticks).
  • During the fuse, flame particles pulse around the block and a fuse sound plays within ~16 blocks.
  • On detonation the block is removed, an explosion sound and large explosion particle play within ~32 blocks, and the following happens simultaneously:
    • Entity damage — all entities within 5 blocks take 8 points of damage and are knocked back away from the blast centre.
    • Block destruction — three TNT entities are summoned at the blast location, creating a real explosion that destroys nearby blocks.

Breaking Before Detonation

Mine the Bomb Block (fast to break — about 0.5 seconds by hand) before it detonates and it will drop itself as an item so you can reuse it.

Crafting And Obtaining

Bomb Blocks are crafted at a crafting table. Each craft yields 4 Bomb Blocks.

Abilities And Mechanics

  • Extremely fragile — has zero explosion resistance, so a nearby blast will destroy it instantly (and trigger it).
  • Flammable — fire spreads to the block very easily and will destroy it (though this does not arm the bomb; the block simply burns away).
  • No drops from explosions — if the block itself is destroyed by an explosion rather than mined by a player, it drops nothing.
  • Double-arm protection — interacting with an already-armed bomb has no additional effect; the fuse cannot be shortened by re-activating it.
  • Redstone compatible — works with any standard redstone signal source (levers, buttons, pressure plates, comparators, etc.).

Progression And Strategy

  • Cheap demolition — four Bomb Blocks per craft makes them economical for clearing large areas.
  • Chained explosions — place multiple Bomb Blocks and wire them to a single redstone pulse for simultaneous multi-point detonations.
  • Timed traps — combine with pressure plates so intruders (or mobs) arm the bomb themselves.
  • Safe disarm — if you change your mind after arming, mine the block quickly (it breaks in ~0.5 s) to cancel the detonation and recover the block.
