.mcaddon and load a world on difficulty Easy or higher./locate biome blood_moon_la to find the red-tinted Los Angeles wasteland biome replacing portions of desert, plains, and savanna terrain.Blood Moon Los Angeles drops you into a scripted zombie apocalypse set in a decayed, red-tinted version of Los Angeles. The world tracks an ever-escalating infection cycle across 500 named variants of evolved zombies, punctuated by intensified Purge Waves every 5th day and deadly Blood Moons every 10th day. Periodic allied defenders arrive to help you hold the line, and rideable vehicles appear in the world. An action-bar HUD keeps you informed of everything at a glance.

Both the Survivor Rifle and Scrap Bow use raycast targeting — aim directly at an enemy and press Use (right-click / screen tap). You do not need to charge the Scrap Bow; each press fires instantly. A critical-hit particle confirms a hit. The Rifle has longer range (42 blocks) and higher damage; the Bow reaches 30 blocks and deals less damage but is easier to craft with early materials.
Every 3 days, 3 LA Defenders spawn a few blocks in front of you. They are named military or militia allies and will attack nearby zombies automatically. Do not kill them — their loot drops are minimal (rotten flesh, rare iron ingot/food).
Evolved LA Zombies drop 0–2 rotten flesh. Players with Looting have a small chance to also receive an iron ingot, carrot, or potato.
All three items are crafted at a crafting table. Recipes unlock automatically when you pick up the listed ingredient.
Survivor Rifle — unlocks when you pick up an iron ingot.


Scrap Bow — unlocks when you pick up string.


Tactical Vest — unlocks when you pick up leather.


The infection deterministically cycles through 500 variants (Evolved LA Zombie 1–500). Each day maps to a specific variant number, so every player on the same day faces the same named variant.
Waves spawn around each player in a ring (radius ~16–24 blocks). Wave size scales with the day:

During a Blood Moon, all zombies receive Strength III, making them significantly more dangerous — and your Survivor Rifle automatically deals bonus damage (18 instead of 14) to compensate.
Spawned zombies are grouped into themed bundles: Military, Civilian, Police, Judge, Coast Guard, Marine, and Executive. The bundle type rotates with each wave index, so you will face mixed crowds.
Three LA Defenders spawn near you every 3 in-game days (on a ~3-minute real-time interval). They are named after various military and militia factions and function as iron golems — high health, strong melee attackers.
Days 1–9 — Getting established: Wave sizes are small. Use your starter kit, gather iron for crafting, and start building a defensive position. Craft a replacement Survivor Rifle and Tactical Vest before your starter ones break.
Day 10 — First Blood Moon: Expect a wave 10 zombies larger than normal, all buffed with Strength. Stay mobile, use the Rifle's bonus damage, and keep Defenders alive to soak hits.
Days 10–45 — Escalating cycle: Each Purge Wave (days 5, 15, 25 …) brings +5 zombies; each Blood Moon (days 20, 30 …) brings +10 plus Strength-buffed enemies. The infection variant counter climbs toward 500 — higher variant numbers signal a more dangerous horde.
Day 45+ — Military raids: On top of normal waves, every 7 days a weekly military raid adds 8 extra zombies with a warning message. Keep a surplus of crafting materials to repair or replace weapons, and rely on your Defender reinforcements to handle overflow.
