Description
Every night the moon bathes the world in a blood-red glow and every mob — even normally passive or neutral ones — becomes hostile. You’ll see a strong crimson fog and red camera tint while mobs nearby are driven to attack players (new spawns and newly joined players are affected automatically), with attacks occurring on a short cooldown. The frenzy starts at nightfall and ends at dawn each day, requiring no setup or commands—just survive the blood moon.

Blood Moon Frenzy
Quickstart
- Install the
.mcaddon and apply both the behavior pack and resource pack to your world.
- Start a new or existing world and wait for nightfall — no commands or setup needed.
- When the sun sets you'll instantly see a crimson fog fill the air and a red tint on your screen, and your action bar will read Blood Moon Frenzy: every mob is hostile.
- Every mob around you — cows, chickens, wolves, villagers, zombies, everything — will begin moving toward you and attacking. Stay moving, build shelter, or fight back.
- Survive until dawn. When the blood moon fades you'll see The blood moon fades with dawn and the world returns to normal.
Overview
Blood Moon Frenzy turns every single night into a desperate survival challenge. From the moment darkness falls until the first light of dawn, every living mob in the world is driven into a hostile frenzy. There is nothing to craft, no items to collect, and no commands to run — the mod works automatically from the moment the pack is active.
What It Adds
- Blood Moon event — triggers automatically every night, from nightfall (game time 13,000) to dawn (game time 23,000).
- Crimson fog & red screen tint — a dense Crimson Forest fog is applied to every player for the duration of the night.
- Universal mob hostility — all mobs with health (passive, neutral, and hostile alike) are compelled to pursue and attack nearby players.
- Action bar messages — a dark-red warning appears when the frenzy begins; a grey message confirms when it ends.
Abilities And Mechanics
Mob Behavior During the Blood Moon
| Property | Value |
|---|
| Aggro radius | 42 blocks |
| Attack range | ~2.35 blocks |
| Attack damage per hit | 1 heart (2 damage) |
| Attack cooldown | ~1.5 seconds (30 ticks) |
- Every mob within 42 blocks of a player is actively pushed toward that player each tick interval.
- When a mob closes to within ~2.35 blocks it deals 1 heart of damage on a ~1.5-second cooldown.
- Normally neutral mobs (wolves, bees, endermen, etc.) are triggered into their angry state where possible; all other mobs are scripted to pursue and attack regardless.
- Projectiles, vehicles, dropped items, and other non-living entities are not affected.
Visuals
- A heavy crimson fog (matching the Crimson Forest biome atmosphere) is pushed onto every player's screen while the blood moon is active and refreshed regularly so it cannot be removed accidentally.
- The fog and tint clear automatically at dawn.
Player Joining Mid-Night
If you join or respawn while a blood moon is already in progress, the crimson fog and action bar warning are applied to you immediately — you will not get a grace period.
Progression And Strategy
- Build or reinforce shelter before dark. Because every mob is hostile, even farm animals will converge on you the moment night falls.
- Light up your base. Fewer mob spawns means fewer attackers, though existing mobs will still come for you.
- Keep moving. The aggro radius is 42 blocks, so staying out in the open means being swarmed from all directions.
- Prepare healing. Each blood moon lasts the full night cycle; stocking food and potions before sunset is critical.
- The frenzy resets every night — there is no way to skip or cancel it. Every night is a blood moon.
