Survive nightly Blood Moons, raging mobs, village raids, and a midnight leviathan boss.
Mod Wiki
Blood Moon Feast
Quickstart
- Craft a Feast Blade and a Moon Sigil before nightfall — see the recipes below.
- Keep an eye on the sky. Once night falls, the Blood Moon rises automatically — no summoning or triggering required.
- When you see the message "The Blood Moon rises...", a powerful Blood Moon Raider has spawned near you and is hunting you and any nearby village.
- Drink/use your Moon Sigil the moment things get dangerous — it grants temporary Resistance and Regeneration to help you survive.
- If midnight arrives and you hear/see the message about a MIDNIGHT FEAST, a colossal Feast Leviathan may have emerged nearby. Be ready to run or fight.
- Survive until dawn. When the sun comes up, the Blood Moon's effects fade and the world returns to normal — until the next night.
Overview
Blood Moon Feast turns every in-game night into a survival event. As darkness falls, nearby monsters become empowered, a dangerous raid boss hunts you and local villages, and at midnight a massive sea monster may rise to feed. Players can craft special gear to fight back or endure the chaos, and defeating the Blood Moon's champions rewards protective charms.
What It Adds
- Blood Moon Raider – A hulking, heavily armored raid boss (1200 HP) that spawns near every player each night. It actively hunts players, iron golems, wandering traders, and villagers, and can call in pillagers, vindicators, and evokers to besiege villages like a raid.
- Feast Leviathan – A gigantic, Warden-like leviathan (1,200,000 HP) that has a chance to emerge at midnight. It roars, digs, senses vibrations, unleashes a devastating sonic boom attack, and inflicts Darkness on nearby players. This is an extreme late-game threat.
- Feast Blade – A craftable sword forged for fighting back against the Blood Moon's monsters.
- Moon Sigil – A drinkable charm that grants temporary protection during the night's chaos.
- Nightly Mob Frenzy – Every ordinary mob near a player at night becomes temporarily possessed: faster, stronger, and aggressive toward anything nearby, including each other.
How To Use
- No setup required – The Blood Moon cycle runs automatically based on the world's day/night cycle. Nothing needs to be built, activated, or summoned.
- Night window – The event begins as night starts and continues until just before dawn. Right at the start of night, the Blood Moon Raider spawns. At midnight, there's a chance for a Feast Leviathan to also emerge.
- Possessed mobs – While it's night, mobs near you become supercharged with Strength and Speed and will attack anything close to them, including hostile mobs fighting each other. This effect clears away once day returns.
- Using the Moon Sigil – Hold and use the item like a potion. It has a short cooldown and grants Resistance and Regeneration to help you weather an attack.
- Fighting the Raider – The Blood Moon Raider is a raid-style boss; expect it to march toward the nearest village accompanied by other illagers. Bring strong gear such as the Feast Blade.
- Fighting the Leviathan – This is one of the deadliest threats in the mod. It can dig underground, sense sound and movement, and unleash a long-range sonic boom attack that deals heavy damage and knockback. Approach with caution, strong gear, and backup.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the following gear at a crafting table:
Both the Blood Moon Raider and the Feast Leviathan have a chance to drop a Moon Sigil when defeated, giving you another way to stock up on protection charms besides crafting.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Feast Blade – A hard-hitting sword with high damage and solid durability, meant to stand up to the mod's tougher enemies.
- Moon Sigil – Grants Resistance II and Regeneration II for a short duration when used, with a cooldown before it can be used again.
- Blood Moon Raider – Extremely tanky raid boss that seeks out villages and players, capable of leading full-scale illager raids.
- Feast Leviathan – A massive, Warden-inspired boss with vibration and sniffing senses, a burrowing dig attack, a roar, and a devastating sonic boom attack that can strike from a distance. It also emits Darkness around itself.
- Nightly Possession – Ordinary mobs near players at night gain combat buffs and turn aggressive toward nearby creatures, making nights considerably more chaotic even away from the named bosses.
Progression And Strategy
- Prepare defenses and gear during the day — nights arrive automatically and escalate quickly.
- Prioritize crafting a Feast Blade early for reliable damage output against both regular night mobs and bosses.
- Always keep a Moon Sigil on hand as an emergency panic button when overwhelmed.
- Defending villages is important, since the Blood Moon Raider will lead raids against them — losing villagers means losing trading and resources.
- Treat any midnight Feast Leviathan sighting as a major event: consider retreating to fortified shelter rather than fighting it unprepared, given its immense health and powerful ranged attack.
- Surviving repeated Blood Moons nets you a steady supply of Moon Sigils from boss kills, letting you stockpile protection for even harder nights ahead.
