Arcane Diamond Staff

Quickstart

1. Obtain an Arcane Diamond Staff from the Combat creative inventory, or craft one with the recipe below.
2. Hold the staff in either hand.
3. Aim at a living target and use the staff—usually right-click.
4. The staff fires an instant magical beam up to 24 blocks, stopping at the first solid block or a target in its path.

The recipe is unlocked when you enter a world. You can also give yourself the staff with:

Overview

The Arcane Diamond Staff is a single-use-at-a-time ranged weapon that projects a bright magical beam. It deals magic damage to the closest living target along your aim and produces End Rod particles along the beam.

The staff does not create a separate projectile, consume ammunition, or consume itself when used.

What It Adds

• Arcane Diamond Staff — A stackable-to-one magical weapon.

• Long range — Reaches up to 24 blocks.
• Magic damage — Deals 8 damage points to a living target.
• Visual and audio effects — Creates a brilliant particle beam and plays a beacon-like activation sound.

How To Use

Hold the Arcane Diamond Staff and use it while looking toward a target.

• The beam follows your view direction.
• Solid blocks stop the beam.
• A living target in the beam’s path can be hit before the beam reaches the blocking surface.
• If several living targets are lined up, the closest valid target is struck.
• The attack works from either hand.
• The staff has a short cooldown of 12 game ticks, or about 0.6 seconds, between uses.
• Aiming at empty space still produces the beam effect up to the first obstruction or the staff’s maximum range.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the staff in a crafting table using:

• 1 Amethyst Shard
• 1 Diamond
• 1 Blaze Rod

The ingredients are arranged vertically, with the Amethyst Shard above the Diamond and the Blaze Rod below it.

The Arcane Diamond Staff is also available in the Combat creative inventory.

Abilities And Mechanics

Arcane Beam

Each use projects a beam from the player’s eye position in the direction they are looking. It can travel up to 24 blocks and ends at the first solid block along that line.

When the beam reaches a living target, it deals 8 magic damage points, equal to 4 full hearts, and the beam’s endpoint moves to that target.

Effects

The beam is shown with bright End Rod particles along its length, with an additional burst of particles at the endpoint. Using the staff also plays a beacon activation sound for nearby players.

Weapon Properties

The staff holds only one item per stack. It can be used repeatedly after its cooldown expires and does not require ammunition.

Progression And Strategy

• Gather Amethyst Shards, a Diamond, and a Blaze Rod to make your first staff.
• Use open sightlines to take advantage of the beam’s 24-block range.
• Keep the staff aimed at the nearest target when multiple creatures are approaching; the closest valid target is hit first.
• Use walls and corners for cover while waiting for the short cooldown.
• Remember that solid blocks interrupt the beam, so clear obstructions or reposition before firing.
