Description:
Ever felt a little uneasy digging underground? Want a safer way to dig without worrying too much about unseen dangers? The Midnight Danger Dial is a good tool to help you ease your worries! The Midnight Danger Dial is a handheld scanner that, when right‑clicked, scans for nearby hazards and returns a color‑coded 1–12 danger reading. Sneak + right‑click opens a per‑player toggle screen to include/exclude Hostile Mobs, Lava, and Dangerous Falls; Hostiles and Lava are checked in a 15×15×10 area around you, while Dangerous Falls now only looks at the 7 blocks directly beneath the block you’re standing on — if all 7 are air the dial adds +8, if 4–6 consecutive air blocks are found it adds +1, and falls are ignored if fewer than 4 or if the Falls toggle is off. This mod was inspired by the doomsday clock or the clock to midnight! If you have any recommendations, feel free to leave a comment and I may eventually see it! Not recommended for the nether. It's always midnight there.

User request: a "clock" that will tell the player how close to "midnight" they are. When the player uses the clock, it will reply with a number from 1-12. depending on the danger near the player, the clock will increase the number. If there is no danger nearby, it will respawn with the number 1. If there is danger nearby, it will increase the number by 1 for each instance of danger. An instance of danger should be seen as a pit the player can fall into and take damage, lava, low light levels, or hostile mobs. Hostile mobs should be identifiable if they can target the player with harmful actions, such as, but not limited to, zombies, skeletons, creepers, spiders, and witches. the distance the clock should check is 15 blocks around the player and 10 blocks above or under the player. Edit v2: Stop identifying low light levels as danger. Before being activated, always set the number back to 1 before scanning the area. Edit v3: When the player sneak + right clicks with the dial in hand, open up a screen to toggle on or off any danger the dial can sense. If an option is off, do not use the danger towards the count. Edit v5: When scanning for dangerous falls, only scan 7 blocks directly under the block the player is on. If there are no blocks within the 7-block scan under the one the player is standing on, increase the count by 8. Edit v6: When scanning for danger of falling, instead of scanning directly under the player, skip the block the player is standing on and reduce the range to 6 blocks.
