Description:
The Lethal Tesla Coil is a 16-block-tall electrical multiblock that operates automatically without redstone, scanning from its top-center toroid for a lightning rod or nearby mobs; with a rod it enters Grounded Mode and fires dramatic branching arcs for a visual display, without a rod it switches to Kill Mode and can lock onto up to three mobs dealing continuous lightning damage, and when idle it spawns drifting electrical particles. To use it, place the coil and optionally position a lightning rod within its top-centered range for the visual effect, or remove the rod to let it automatically attack mobs — it never targets players and prioritizes hostile then passive mobs. This update makes all arcs, beams, particles and range checks originate from the actual top-center of your built structure and respect the coil’s rotation, so effects now visually match behavior with no offset drift when the multiblock is placed or rotated.

User request: Tesla coil. Placeable block entity, 4 blocks tall, 1.5 blocks wide at base. Classic cylindrical coil design with electrical discharge mechanics. Base platform: Circular platform, 1.5 blocks diameter, 0.25 blocks tall. Copper/orange metallic color (#B87333). Three thick concentric copper coil rings wrapped around base. Each ring is 4-5 voxels thick, raised 2-3 voxels above platform surface. Rings are evenly spaced (inner ring 0.5 blocks diameter, middle ring 0.9 blocks diameter, outer ring 1.3 blocks diameter). Coils have wrapped/wound appearance with visible segments. Primary coil cylinder: Tall smooth cylinder, 3 blocks tall, 0.8 blocks diameter. Deep metallic red color (#8B0000) with reflective sheen texture. Cylinder sits centered on base platform directly above coil rings. Perfectly smooth sides with no texture breaks. Slight highlight/shine on one side to show metallic surface. Secondary coil (toroid top): Sits centered on top of primary cylinder. Donut/torus shape, 1.2 blocks outer diameter, 0.4 blocks inner hole diameter, 0.5 blocks tall. Metallic silver/chrome color (#C0C0C0) with high reflective sheen. Toroid has 10-12 horizontal segment bands wrapped around (groove lines visible between segments). Very shiny appearance. Functionality - Electrical discharge system: When placed, tesla coil is always active (no redstone needed). Continuously scans for targets and lightning rods within 20 block radius every tick. Lightning rod detection (priority behavior): If vanilla Minecraft lightning rod exists within 20 blocks, tesla coil enters "grounded mode". Shoots continuous wild electrical arc particles from toroid top directly to nearest lightning rod. Electrical arc is bright blue-white branching particles that spawn every 0.1 seconds along path from toroid to rod. Arc has random branch-off particles (side bolts that split off randomly, 2-5 voxels long). Plays constant loud electrical crackling/buzzing sound loop. While grounded to lightning rod, tesla coil deals NO damage to any entities - it is completely safe. Arc particles are purely visual when connected to lightning rod. Kill mode (when no lightning rod present): If NO lightning rod exists within 20 blocks, tesla coil enters "lethal mode". Scans for nearest living entity (mob, player, animal) within 20 block radius. Shoots direct lightning bolt particles from toroid top to target entity. Lightning particles are bright blue-white with purple tint, straight beam with minor random wiggle (not branching). Beam spawns every tick (continuous connection). Targeted entity takes 100 damage per second (instant kill for most mobs, kills player in 0.2 seconds). Can target up to 3 entities simultaneously - each gets separate lightning beam. Plays loud continuous electrical ZAP sound (higher pitched than grounded mode). Particle specifications: Grounded mode particles: Branching wild arcs, bright blue (#00FFFF) with white core, random side bolts, chaotic movement, 15-20 particles per burst, spawns every 0.1 seconds. Recalculate the emission origin using the actual multiblock structure bounds and the block entity’s real placement offset, so the visual source aligns perfectly with the physical top of the model. Ensure Grounded Mode arcs, Kill Mode lightning, scanning rays, and idle drifting particles all use this corrected top-center position, with no positional drift or block-offset error.
