We’re excited to announce the release of Biomes and Dimensions on CreativeMode! Make your own custom biome complete with custom blocks, mobs, plants, structures, and terrain generation in just minutes - all without writing a single line of code. Biomes on CreativeMode allow you to reshape your Minecraft experience in a whole new way.
We’ve been playing with this feature internally for the past couple of weeks, and we’re super excited to see what you make with it. Want a floating island biome with flying chickens? Or a cave system with new shadow slimes? The world is now in your hands.
The Biome generation feature will also add these biomes to new worlds so they will perfectly mesh in to your survival experience. Discover them just like any vanilla biome.
You can shape a lot with the new biomes feature. You can provide specific instructions for how the blocks should look, what types of trees or plants the biome should have, what kinds of mobs will spawn there and what those mobs will do. You can also share how the terrain should be generated (tall, spiky mountains like the Himalayas? or a field of moon craters secretly made of cheese?) The new biomes support structures as well. Maybe the biome has ruins of an ancient civilization If you want CreativeMode to fill in the details, just share the vibe you’re going for and CreativeMode will take care of the rest.
Biomes also include support for totally new dimensions! So if you want your biome to be a whole new world to unlock and explore, go for it! You can combine this with our existing mod creations for really cool ideas: make a dimension for new planets that requires advanced ore processing to unlock or maybe your own take on the End update? It’s all up to you!
Biomes are out now for Java, so go ahead and get crafting! Go over to creativemode.net/create/biomes to make your own today.
The team was so excited by this feature so we took some time to make our own mods and show was it possible. Here’s what we crafted!
A totally new dimension with floating tree islands connected by bridges in the tree canopy. Perfect for a new gamemode?
Adds a new Moon Pastures Overworld biome with a barren lunar-rock surface, cheese-flecked terrain, and shallow craters whose basins are filled with Moon Cheese. You can mine new blocks and items—Lunar Rock, Moon Cheese Block, and Lunar Cheese Shards—which appear in loot and the creative inventory, and use them to interact with the new Space Cow mob (they spawn naturally in the biome, have a spawn egg in creative, and support breeding with the new cheese items)
The Corruption adds a new, naturally generating Overworld biome: a dark, Nether‑inspired region of black-and-purple terrain, gloomy skies and fog, and a hostile, ominous ambience that players can discover simply by exploring any newly generated world. The biome is filled with custom terrain and vegetation—Corrupted Ash, Corruptstone, Corruption Stem and Leaves, and patches of Gloom Fungus—that spawn as twisted trees and ground cover and drop mod items and loot when harvested, providing unique decorative and building materials. It’s designed for exploration and survival play: expect dangerous encounters and a distinct atmosphere, with everything ready to use out of the box so you just install the mod and seek out the corrupted regions.
The feature is out now on Java, so go check it out!
